• A Lathe Operator operates a lathe machine to shape or form metal, wood or other materials mostly in manufacturing or production settings.
• Lathe Operator is responsible for measuring and cutting materials to specific dimensions, monitoring the machine to ensure it is running correctly, and knowing how to make adjustments as necessary.
• Monitor machine performance during operation, making adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and tolerances.
• Perform basic lathe operations like turning, facing, threading, and boring.
• Handle material in and out of a lathe machine according to specific procedures and guidelines.
• Operate the lathe machine effectively and correctly to produce parts to the required specification for the job.
• Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces for cutting or shaping.
• Set up and adjust machine controls, speeds, and feed rates to achieve the desired results.
